The flag somewhat resembles the British East India Company flag. The American flag consists of thirteen stripes of alternating red and white color, and a set of fifty stars on a blue field. This latest design of 50 stars is official since the time of President Eisenhower. Although debatable, the American flag was first hoisted by the Continental Army at the Middlebrook encampment.
